This movement for First Nations Gender Justice grows with you.

First Nations gender justice is not something the Institute can achieve alone. It is a movement, built by the voices, knowledges and leadership of First Nations women, girls and gender-diverse people, and carried forward by everyone who chooses to walk alongside us. There are many ways to be part of this journey, whatever capacity, time or resources you have to give. Below are a few ways you can get involved!

Join our network of First Nations women (Mob only)

We've created a virtual gathering space of First Nations women and gender-diverse peoples (inclusive of trans women and Sistergirls) to connect, share learnings and offer opportunities. The community came out of the desire to bring women together across the continent and have space for engaging on different Institute activities, research and projects, as well as sharing external opportunities, in real time.
The community is co-ordinated as a WhatsApp community group with various sub-groups for location and topic themes, ensuring everyone involved can connect with likeminded women and hear about different work and opportunities that interest them directly.

At Women Deliver 2026, the Institute brought together 150 First Nations women, girls and gender-diverse people (inclusive of trans women and Sistergirls) to articulate our vision for systems change. The Call to Action holds six systemic shifts that articulate what is needed for meaningful reform for First Nations gender justice and equality: These are Care, Safety, Economic Transformation, Education and Language.

Researchers

Research is one of the Institute's key functions to support the evidence-building of First Nations women, girls and gender-diverse peoples voices. We deeply value research that is voice and community lead, with our agenda shaped by and for First Nations women. Housed at ANU, the Institute draws on these academic resources, and position of influence to drive research forward that does not sit on a shelf, but is actively used by communities to drive meaningful change for First Nations gender justice.
